2020 has not been the booming year for weddings we all anticipated, but where there have been challenges faced globally, we have been given something very important in return. Time. Time to pause, take a look at ourselves and our businesses and readdress how we work. What do we do well? What could do with change? What more could we be doing?
At Meant To Be Media, we’re no exception, and we have fully utilised this time to look at our business as a whole. During lockdown we have had unprecedented increases in our online statistics, particularly on Wedding Trader with over 2200% rise in traffic since the 23rd March!
Director Jade Pepperell explains: “We have really paid attention to what the readers of all titles have been spending most time reading, commenting on and we have given positive feedback as a result. We are now fully focussing our content on demand, and right now that is information for retailers and industry professionals, from business experts and more importantly, from yourselves and your peers. We want your voice to be heard, loud and clear, and for open discussions to be the norm among the industry.”
For consumers, this has been supportive information due to cancellations and postponement, as well as keeping positivity about their wedding day and what will certainly be a fantastic occasion, keeping them up to date with the latest in bridal fashion, finishing touches and everything in between.
Jade adds: “We have been looking at where we’ve been spending money, and with the huge successes we’ve had online, we feel that digital investment is essential for us to ensure we don’t lose any momentum, and I’m pleased to say that this has been the case so far. In addition we’ve put our hands further in our pockets to invest time and money on social media, which has also seen exponential increases in traffic and likes, as well as more engaging conversation.”
So that’s us, but what about you? We’ve really been looking at what we do well, and what we could be doing more of. As a team, we have a wealth of experience in editorial, marketing, sales, design and digital, spanning over 15 years in the bridal industry. Between us, we can offer much more, and we intend to do so. This has to start with you, not us. And so we have decided to rip up the rule books of old, and embrace a time for change, starting with our advertising.
“One size fits all is not going to cut it any more,” explains Jade. “One company’s needs will be completely different to another’s, so offering standard packages that you can take or leave is really not good enough in this modern climate. So, we are getting rid of our media packs, rate cards, and standard advertising packages. Instead we want to put on a plate for you all we can do for you, and we want you to tell us which services you need to grow your business,” she continues.
We will gather this information from you in the form of a survey, with tick boxes for you to say which services you require. We then create a bespoke, tailor-made package just for you, and only you, based on a budget you are comfortable with. This may mean that you don’t want to run adverts, but need help with your marketing. Perhaps social media is at the fore for you? Whatever it is, we’re here to help you.
